What happens when science and circus collides? Entertainment filled with dazzlingly displays, fantastic experiments, games and scientists with a healthy does of humour!

This year, Castle Towers will be hosting the Amazing Science Circus during National Science week. Our enthusiastic “ringmasters” will demonstrate the air canon, showcase singing money, discover the possible and the not, and more. A fantastic weekend event for kids that shouldn’t be missed!

Science in the Swamp


How is honey harvested? What amazing creatures live at Centennial Parklands? Want to meet a magic wishing tree or a life-sized Australian Dinasour? With over a dozen of partners such as Sydney Wildlife, Little Scientists, Sunswift and Banksia Buddies, Science in the Swamp is a fun-packed event for families.

Field of Orbs – Light painting extravaganza!


  If you’re keen to take some fantastic photos then this is the event for you!   As part of the International Year of Light, members of the public will be spinning LED lights to create a field of orbs. Join artist Peter Solness to capture this unique night time activity in Centennial Park, be sure to bring camera and tripods as there will be many awesome opportunities to take photos in the park. Age: All ages welcome, however, children under 12 will not be able to use illumination devices. Learn to be an Underwater Rov Explorer

95% of our ocean floor remains unexplored – we actually know more about the surfaces of the Moon and Mars than we do about the bottom of the ocean. Robotics expert and diver Neill Wainwright will host a workshop on Saturday 22nd August to build an actual remotely operated vehicle (ROV)! Then on Sunday, have a go at driving the ROV through an obstacle course designed by the Young Scientists of Australia.
