Presentation and Science Show (PaSS) Training 2018

What is PaSS Training?

Presentation and Science Show (PaSS) Training is YSA Sydney’s three day non-residential program over the course of which you’ll get to learn everything you need to know about becoming an effective and engaging science communicator. The program will cover a whole bunch of important points for budding science presenters, including:

  • Having confidence in your presenting ability.
  • Explaining scientific concepts to any audience.
  • Developing your communication and presentation skills.
  • Using scaffolds to develop and run your very own science show.
  • Ensuring your science show is safe.
  • Tips and tricks to manage a crowd.

Throughout the program you will be mentored by experienced YSA members and you’ll get to figure out what makes a science show work (and what doesn’t)!

Where and when is PaSS Training happening?

In 2018, PaSS Training will be held at The University of Sydney from Tuesday 16 January to Thursday 18 January. The days will start at 9:00AM and end at 3:30PM.

How do I get there?

The easiest way to get to the venue is to walk from Redfern Station. There will be YSA Sydney staffies present at the station to accompany people to the venue if assistance is required.

What is the cost?

The cost of the program is $40. This will cover materials for your science show, morning and afternoon tea for each day and pizza on the last day!

Who can attend PaSS Training?

Anyone between the ages of 14 and 25! No prior experience is required!

By allowing for experienced attendees to assist in the development and running of sessions, the program is designed in such a way that there will be a place for people of ALL levels of skill or experience.
