The biggest event on the YSA Calendar in 2019 is coming up in July! Join us at the bi-annual International Science School to help us provide fun and engaging socials for all the students attending.

What is the International Science School?

The ISS is a visionary science programme created for academically gifted high school students. Over the two-week fully residential curriculum sponsored by the School of Physics, 140 selected scholars are treated to a lecture program involving leading researchers from across the globe and a series of laboratory activities at the University of Sydney.

What is YSA Sydney’s role at ISS?

YSA Sydney is known for it’s great socials and volunteering program – so we’ve been asked to help run a variety of socials for the scholars across the duration of the program.

What will I do as an ISS Staffie?

As an ISS Staffie you will be responsible for the well-being of the students as well as ensuring that both they and you both have an awesome time! If you think you’re capable of leading a group of students whilst having fun then this is the role for you!!!

We're kicking off ISS socials with our infamous Relay Quiz! If you've ever staffed or attended a science school, you'll be familiar with this highly energetic version of trivia. For those who haven't participated in one, think trivia but with a LOT of dancing, fun and bribes*.

Come along to ISS' movie night at Kincoppal to join us in watching a movie, lounge around and meet new people! As a staffie, you will be joining the scholars and making sure they enjoy the night in. Feel free to bring along snacks and get ready for a relaxing time.

2019.07 Weekend ISS

YSA Sydney will once again be holding city tours for the ISS Scholars. This year’s tour will include a backstage tour of the Opera House, the botanical gardens, and a walk over the harbour bridge!

Love the beach? Take advantage of the beach walk to get some sun during the break. We will be going from Bronte to Bondi, so there might be some time at the end to chill at the beach.

Each of our events will require between 4~20 volunteers. For each event you are interested in please fill in the RSVP form below and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible!

There will be a training day on Saturday, the 6th of July, where we will be running through everything you need to know to be a great ISS Staffie. It is highly recommended that you come along, lunch will be provided as an extra incentive.

There will also be a few ‘bonus events’ at which YSA members will be guests, and are purely there for enjoyment. We will offer spots to both the disco and harbor cruise based on number of events volunteered at over the two weeks – so if you’re keen to go make sure you sign up for as many as possible 😀
