Many of you will be entering the research community in the years to come.
But do you know how research is actually done in Australia?
There is a bewildering number of different organisations all
doing some sort of research - but what do they actually do?
In this series of articles, we will talk to a number of
scientists and engineers working in different research environments.
Your questions are always welcome (it will help us write the next section
of this series!) - please send them to Stuart Prescott <s.prescott@ysa.org.au>.
As the parts of this series are written they will be posted here on the
website. A new part will be released every couple of months. The
existing (and proposed) sections of this series are shown below:
- Part 1: The University Research Group
- The first article in this series looks at the university
research group. Dr Adrian George is a Senior Lecturer in the
School of Chemistry at the University of Sydney.
- Part 2: Key Centres and Special Research Centres
- Prof. Ary Hoffmann of the Centre for
Environmental Stress and Adaptation Research and Prof. Michael Humphreys
of the Key Centre for
Human Factors and Applied Cognitive Psychology talk about the Research
Centres Programme.
- Part 3: CSIRO
- Mr Kim Branson (a PhD student at CSIRO Health
Science & Nutrition
talks about CSIRO, its reputation and how it is structured.
