Content Providers Code of Conduct
|
On-line services available to members of YSA Chapters, such as the World Wide Web, Usenet news, email and ftp allow users to make information available on the Internet. The content of the material made available is subject to this code of conduct.
A Code of Conduct for content providers on YSA Machines or providers of content which is linked with YSA
- You must assume full responsibility for the content of
all your material that can be accessed by other
Internet users or be otherwise distributed after being
accessed through the Internet.
- You must know and observe relevant copyright laws.
In particular, if you did not create the material you
do not have the right to make that material available
unless you have specifically been given permission to
do so by the owner of the copyright.
- You must acknowledge and respond to complaints about
the content of your material and notify the YSA Computer Systems
Manager of any such complaints. This should be done in
a prompt and courteous manner. If you cannot resolve a
matter to the satisfaction of the complainant, the
matter must be referred to the YSA Computer Systems Manager
or duly appointed delegate(s), who in consultation with the
Computer Systems Managers of the Schools of Chemistry and
Physics in the University of Sydney, will be the final arbiter
of the matter. These persons reserve the right
to order you to remove material or
modify it accordingly.
- You must not make available material which:
- would be refused classification under the
existing classification regime applying in NSW,
Australia, including child pornography,
excessively violent material, material containing
extreme sexual violence and material that
promotes, incites or instructs in matters of
crime or violence;
- vilifies people, particularly on the basis of
race, gender, sexual preference or disability;
- is an improper intrusion into people's privacy,
or is an improper disclosure of personal
information;
- is defamatory;
- is not in keeping with the Objectives or Rules of
YSA Sydney Inc., (as lodged with the NSW Dept of
Fair Trading) or any other policies of
YSA Sydney Inc.
- If your material is likely to offend sections of the
community it should not be published in such a manner
that it could be accessed unwittingly without a
warning being provided as to the nature of the
material. Nor should you have links from any material
that would lead to other material that could offend,
without first providing a warning that describes the
nature of the material that the link leads to. You
should use the National Classification Code for
Publications as developed by the Office of Film and Literature
Classification (OFLC) for guidance
when assessing the need for your material to carry
warnings.
NOTES:
A copy of the National Classification Code for
Publications as developed by the Office of Film and Literature
Classification is provided for your reference.
As part of the Acceptable Use Policy you are
also required to agree to the Content Providers Code of Conduct.
