Acceptable Use Policy

Introduction
Many users share the information systems of YSA, which are linked directly to the thousands of users on the University of Sydney network. To ensure the safe, efficient, responsible and secure operation of the systems, all users must comply with the Acceptable Use Policy set out in these documents. You must read, understand and agree to comply with the Acceptable Use Policy before using YSA computer facilities. If you have any doubt about your understanding of the Acceptable Use Policy you should contact the YSA Computer Systems Manager and seek clarification. If you use YSA computer facilities, you will be deemed to have read and understood the conditions of the Acceptable Use Policy and agreed to abide by them.

Definitons
Users
means all affiliates (as defined under the rules of YSA Sydney Inc.) of YSA Chapters, and all users of any other system where access is by means of a service or facility provided by YSA.
Information Systems
means all computers, datasets, software, documentation, terminals, peripherals, networks, communications equipment, services, resources or other facility that any YSA Chapter or the University of Sydney owns, leases or uses under licence or by agreement.

The Acceptable Use Policy

The policy is divided into two sections:
  1. The Conditions of Use pertaining to use of Information Systems
  2. The Content Providers Code of Conduct governing the transmission of information by any method (including email) involving YSA Information Systems.

Additionally, a copy of the National Classification Code for Publications as developed by the Office of Film and Literature Classification is provided for your reference.

Apart from the Policy itself, all members of YSA Chapters are expected to be aware that they are required to adhere to the rules, regulations and policies of YSA Sydney Inc., and the civil and criminal laws of NSW, Australia. You are required to read and sign the agreement to abide by the conditions set down in both sections of the Policy before you use the information systems of YSA.
